Great Snakes! More TinTin Covers

Just when I thought I had a handle on faux Tintin covers …

They keep turning up. Fans still love Tintin pastiches and continue to grind out covers for nonexistent books with tantalizing titles that never were. I have slowly accumulated a few more Tintin covers to put together another Tintin blog entry, only to find that there is a fellow on the web that has the most amazing accumulation of Tintin tribute covers as well as a number of political/satire covers all in one spot.

I actually haven’t been aggressively pursuing more Tintin covers, but when an interesting one turned up, I tossed into a pile for an additional entry. In this blog post, I have scattered about a few “new” covers that I turned up earlier, rather than plug them in to the categories I had previously established in older blog entries. But I have hit the mother lode.

Dave Ahl (SwapMeetDave) contacted me recently to let me know he had a huge trove of Tintin covers the like of which I have never seen. He was right! Let me caution you, SwapMeetDave’s collection of ersatz and unauthorized Tintin covers number in the hundreds, so expect to be overwhelmed.

Blog Policy

I occasionally review or editorialize on commercial items or movies and these are my personal editorial opinions. This is a non-commercial website and I neither take money nor have advertisements on my blog, although I have no control over the sidebars or popups that a host may place here (against my will) or appearing on your computer via your host.

I am by no means a historian, professional critic or scholar, but rather more of a commentator, with a good portion of my text appearing as comments on other person's blogs. I explore things that interest me and think that a few of you out there would enjoy also.

Other than quoted copyrighted text or items used to illustrate a point, I make use of public domain items, lapsed copyright items (in the USA), and those items under the Creative Commons License and the Fair Use Doctrine. My text here is the result of research and/or opinion and is in a non-commercial context although I will occasionally make reference to products in a review.

I use images from the internet and other sources as well as my own photography or images used by specific permission where a copyright is shown. If you have a copyright issue with an image, proving ownership, I will remove it, if it does not meet the Creative Commons License requirement or the Fair Use Doctrine. I try to be reasonable in all matters, if you have an issue, contact me.

I allow comments and generally have a laissez-faire attitude to free speech, understanding that it is your personal opinion, although I reserve the right to remove posts for cause.

I generally avoid politics and religion, outside of historical or literary context, and do not post sexual or sexualizing themes. This is a family-friendly site and safe for work.

Part of the reason for this blog is to interest people in books and literature. In that pursuit I list links for free downloads of out of copyright books in the hope that this will foster a wider range of reading as well as simply get people reading more in general. I support literacy groups for beginners for for adult literacy.
